Vietnam's agriculture exports expected to reach 54 bln USD this year

HANOI, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's agriculture sector has set the target to have growth of 3 percent and exports hit 54 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, according to the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on Friday.

To achieve the goals, Vietnam will accelerate the restructuring of its agriculture sector, manage to alleviate the impacts of the pandemic and the volatility of global market to boost exports, as well as take advantage of free trade agreements.

Speaking at the conference held by the ministry to review agricultural work of 2022, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said despite many challenges expected for this year, the sector should strive for a growth rate of 3.5 percent and exports of 55 billion dollars, higher than last year's figures.

The agriculture sector needs to focus on product brand, pushing digital transformation and facilitating green transition while diversifying products, markets and supply chains, he said.
