PHNOM PENH, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- Heather Wheeler, trade envoy of the British Prime Minister is on a visit to Cambodia to explore trade opportunities and green investments, said a press statement from the British Embassy in Cambodia on Monday.
Wheeler, who is also the trade envoy to Laos, is in Phnom Penh from Sept. 24 to Sept. 26, and during her visit, she is scheduled to meet with Cambodian ministers and British and Cambodian businesses to explore opportunities to strengthen commercial relationship and support Cambodia's sustainable development and transition from the least developed countries (LDC) status.
Britain sees a huge potential to deploy green investment and encourage Cambodian exports, the statement said.
Britain is one of the major export destinations for Cambodian products.
Cambodia-Britain trade in 2022 had recovered to its pre-pandemic levels of over 1 billion U.S. dollars, the statement said, adding that Cambodian exports to Britain are predominantly made up of garments, footwear and bicycles.
