Digital skills course for Lancang-Mekong MSMEs launched in Myanmar

YANGON, Sept. 25 (Xinhua) -- A digital upskilling and reskilling course for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the Lancang-Mekong region was launched under Lancang-Mekong Cooperation in Myanmar's capital Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

The five-day course, running from Sept. 25 to 29, is aimed at empowering MSMEs in the Mekong-Lancang region with essential digital skills.

A total of 100 trainees from the ministries in Myanmar attended on the first day of the course conducted at the Ministry of Industry.

"It is very important for MSMEs in Myanmar to transform into a digital economy in order to go together in the world's digital economy system. MSMEs are expected to be able to capture new opportunities through the transformation of the digital economy," said U Win Zeyar Tun, vice chair of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation National Coordination Unit Myanmar.

Since the beginning of Lancang-Mekong Cooperation, over 100 projects have been implemented in various fields, including this project, he said.

China initiated the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation Special Fund in 2016 with the aim of supporting small and medium-sized cooperation projects put forward by six Lancang-Mekong countries, namely China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam and Thailand.
