Myanmar's FDI inflow down over 37 pct in April

YANGON, May 20 (Xinhua) -- Foreign direct investment (FDI) that flowed into Myanmar went down over 37 percent year on year to more than 3.73 million U.S. dollars in April, according to the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) on Saturday.

The Southeast Asian country attracted more than 5.99 million dollars in April last year, the DICA's figures showed.

In April this year, only one foreign investment enterprise was approved by the Myanmar Investment Commission, and the FDI flowed into the country's manufacturing sector, the DICA said.

Myanmar attracted more than 1.64 billion dollars in foreign direct investment in the 2022-23 fiscal year, and Singapore, China and Thailand were the largest investors in the country during the period, official figures showed.
