VIENTIANE, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith and Philippine Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique Manalo have agreed to work together to enhance ties and broaden cooperation between the two countries.
Manalo and his delegation arrived here on Thursday for an official visit to Laos in response to an invitation from Kommasith, Lao News Agency reported on Friday.
The two co-chaired the second meeting of the Laos-Philippines Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation.
The two parties discussed bilateral cooperation in various areas including politics, defense, security, economy, trade and investment, energy, technology, etc.
Both sides noted that the friendship and cooperation between the two countries have been strengthened constantly over the past 68 years as this is reflected in the regular exchange of visits between high-ranking officials of the two countries.
The two sides agreed to maintain high-level contacts and exchanges of visits, and further promote trade and investment by encouraging their companies to explore business opportunities in areas of potential.
They pledged to offer mutual support in the regional and international arenas and discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.
