Night one of Reggae Sumfest 2023 did not disappoint patrons Loop Jamaica

The general sentiment among patrons who flocked the Catherine Hall Entertainment Centre in Montego Bay, St James, on the first of the two nights of the main event of Reggae Sumfest 2023 was that they got their money’s worth.

In fact, it appears those who did not make it to the venue but tuned in to the livestream, which was free, also believe the show and livestream did what they were supposed to.

The performers delivered.

Closing act Tommy Lee Sparta, Masicka, Teejay, Valiant, Moyann, and the 90s artistes in the Boombox family segment were among the standouts from festival night one.

However, the pace was set from the first set of performances and maintained or overtaken in most instances.

In a show of appreciation, the fans, who came out in droves, cheered, tooted horns and sang along with the artistes throughout the night into early Saturday morning.

A few of the overzealous artistes used obscene expressions, but all in all, patrons were pleased with the execution on festival night one, including s special treat from the Japanese sound system Mighty Crown.

The two Asian selectors signalled that it was their farewell, as they would be retiring after 32 years in the sound system business.

“Me a Japanese, but me black inna me heart,” one of the duo of selectors said.

The patrons who spoke to Loop News expressed their satisfaction.
