After losing her house in a massive fire three years ago, a 49-year old woman experienced massive change in her fortunes when she won $4 million in the the Izizzi Millions Jackpot.
The woman, who had a habit of borrowing money from neighbours and friends, earned her financial liberation after she became the newest Izizzi millionaire in October. She acknowledges that she still owes a few "small" debts to neighbours and friends and plans to make good on them. She also intends to complete her house, which is under construction, and to restart her business.
"Mi will give who give to me, but as for the rest, mi want to save it and mi want get interest cause mi want my family dem fi happy. Mi want reopen my stall and sell goods, help my baby them, and buy a car put on the road to bring in back some more funds," she said.
A mother of five, the Izizzi millionaire is a factory worker who hardly earns enough to provide for her family. She shared that playing the game is her "enjoyment" and it has also helped to supplement her income occasionally.
"Mi happy fi her," her eldest child said. "She always a borrow people money and she nah pay them back, so mi glad she come out of dem stress yah now."
The woman was among several persons who lost their houses during a massive fire that affected multiple premises in 2020. She said the Government has assisted by providing her with building materials for the reconstruction of the dwelling, but she has been unable to finish the house.
"It build, but it nuh finish. Mi nuh have nuh window, no door, no tile, nothing. Mi just sleep in it same way suh," she said, adding that it has been hard to bounce back from the devastating effects of the blaze.
"People come and dem start and just let wi go. Other people, them family help, but my family say my head go and come, so them not doing nothing for me. But Father God do it for mi. Thank God for Jesus," she said.
