Criminals suspected to be arsonists have razed the country home of the member representing Orlu/Oru East/Orsu Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, Canice Nwachukwu, popularly known as Omeogo.

Our correspondent gathered that the politician’s country home was razed on Thursday morning, a few hours before the commencement of the two-day South East summit on economy and security held in Owerri, the state capital which had the five governors in the region in attendance.

A source who doesn’t want to be mentioned said that on arrival at the federal lawmaker’s village at Abara in Amanator Okporo community in the Orlu Local Government Area of the state, the suspects set his house on fire.

Our correspondent gathered that the politician was not at home when the arsonists struck as property worth millions of Naira were lost in the attack.

Before setting the house ablaze, the attackers looted some properties, made video footage of the compound and the domestic staff, and threatened to cause more mayhem.

He said “The men came with explosives metals and fuel. Before setting the house on fire, they looted some properties. They equally made video footage of the compound and the domestic staff. While making the videos, they threatened to mastermind more terrors. They came with guns, and explosives like locally made bombs and dynamites. The staff luckily escaped before they set the building on fire.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the police in the state, Henry Okoye, said that the police in the state had commenced an investigation into the arson case.
