Nigeria can be global talent exporter – NITDA DG

The Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency, Kashifu Inuwa, has said Nigeria can become the world’s talent net exporter.

He said this was feasible if all relevant stakeholders from the private and public sectors, worked together to build and harness the power of digital technology for job creation, inclusive economic growth, and sustainability.

The NITDA DG said this on Wednesday at the 2023 edition of the Digital Nigeria Conference in Abuja.

Inuwa said, “We may not be able to compete in the area of manufacturing and other things but when it comes to talent, I can say globally, we can compete with any country on this planet and I believe we can beat any country as well.

“We have done that in the music industry, sports, filmmaking, and today, with everyone’s support, we will do it in the tech industry because nothing is impossible.”

Earlier on the first day of the conference, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Tinubu called for more synergy within the tech ecosystem in order to fast-track the development of the digital economy in Nigeria.

The President was represented by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director, Main One, Funke Opeke, who delivered a keynote address, said the nation was yet to fully take advantage of the opportunities that digital technologies provide.
