OPM Chinyere recovers baby seized by private maternity over N15,000 bill

…Moves to rehabilitate mother, child

From TONY JOHN, Port Harcourt

The Founder and General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Chibuzor Chinyere, has paid the medical bill of the baby seized by a private Maternity at Ikoku in Diobu, Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, Rivers State.

He also recovered the baby from the management of the maternity that refused to return the baby to the mother, Miss Patience James, after payment was made.

The cleric, who is widely known for his humanitarian works, got to know about the development when his Police orderly, Onoen Okoi, went to Ikoku, a popular mechanics base in Port Harcourt, to fix his car, when a young homeless lady, Patience James, approached him crying that her baby was taken from her.

Saturday Sun gathered that Okoi followed the distraught mother to the location only to discover that it is a private maternity.

The OPM Founder and General Overseer said: “When my ADC confronted the owner of the maternity demanding for the release of the child to her mother, the owner of the hospital said the girl delivered in her maternity and was billed N15, 000, which she was unable to pay.

“As a result, the baby was seized from her pending when she pays. So, my ADC put a call to me and I transferred the N15, 000, so that the baby can be released.”

According to the cleric, after the payment was made, the owner of the maternity could not provide the baby, but said the baby had gone and could not get the child back.

Chinyere continued: “For two hours, my ADC begged the maternity owner, but she refused to produce the baby.

“So, when my ADC identified himself as a police officer and he would go to the nearest police station to invite his follow police men, that was when she became afraid and started making calls and the baby was brought back.”

Meanwhile, the OPM Founder and General Overseer has moved the mother and child to the church’s rehabilitation centre were homeless and street girls are rehabilitated, taught different skills and businesses.

This incident has been a regular occurrence where the cleric would intervene, rehabilitate and establish businesses for such ladies that want to do business and enrol those that want to continue their education in school.

It would be recalled that Chinyere had built functional and well equipped two free specialist hospitals in Ohanku, Ndoki Ukwa local government Area of Abia State and Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State, to provide free medical services for pregnant mothers who cannot access government hospitals because of lack of money.

It was discovered that Chinyere has, through the free hospitals, contributed immensely in reducing high rate of maternal mortality in Nigeria through OPM Free Specialist Hospital.
