Home teams shine on opening day of 2023/24 NPFL season

Six home teams won their games on the opening week of the 2023/24 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Katsina United, Bayelsa United, Abia Warriors and Sunshine Stars also claimed maximum points at home.

Shooting Stars defeated Plateau United 2-1 at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

Ayobami Adekunle opened scoring for Shooting Stars eight minutes before the break.

Anayor Ogbonna doubled the advantage for the hosts in the 76th minute.

The visitors fought back immediately with Uche Onwuasanya reducing the deficit.

At the Akwa City Stadium , Kalu Nweke and Austine Onyemaechi scored in the first half as Rangers defeated Doma United 2-1.
