The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a budgetary proposal of N225 billion for the 2024 fiscal year.
The council gave its approval at its weekly meeting on Wednesday.
The proposed budget has N135 billion for recurrent expenditure and N90 billion as proposal for capital expenditure.
The recurrent and capital budget segments represent 60 per cent and 40 per cent, respectively, of the total fiscal proposal.
The next stage of the budgetary process will be the presentation of the proposal to the Adamawa State House of Assembly by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
The council meeting on Wednesday, presided over by Fintiri, also approved an N1.7 billion expenditure undertaking to procure furniture for junior and senior secondary schools across the state.
The Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mrs Neido G. Kofulto, gave the details to newsmen after the meeting held in the Council Chambers of the Government House, Yola.
The Commissioner of Education, Dr Umar Garba Pella, commenting on the financial provision for new chairs and desks for students, stressed that education occupies a central space in the Fintiri administration.
“The government will continue to ensure adequate provision of furniture in schools,” Pella said.
