Amanda Burton established herself as an important part of Liverpool culture with her iconic debut performance as Heather Black in Brookside.

The Northern Irish actress appeared in 143 episodes of the long-running channel 4 soap from 1982 - 1986.

She was involved in iconic storylines including the death of her husband Nicholas Black - which led her to return back to the character's maiden name of Haversham.

Since the 64-year-old exited the show, her career has gone from strength-to-strength as she appeared as the main character Sam Ryan in the BBC show Silent Witness.

She has also recently been a part of a Brookside reunion as her and Anna Friel now co-star in the crime drama Marcella.

And it seems as though the apple hasn't fallen too far from the tree as Amanda Burton's two daughters have now followed their mum into the world of showbiz.

32-year-old Phoebe is a writer and director who has won award winning short films.

30-year Brid was an actress who starred alongside her mum in Silent Witness and now works as a screenwriter.

The sisters collaborated on the dark comedy called The Dog with the Woman which featured at numerous film festivals in 2017.
