Krishnan Guru-Murthy is being backed to win Strictly by HUGE Hollywood actor

STRICTLY Come Dancing star Krishnan Guru-Murthy has landed himself a very unlikely number-one fan.

The newsreader who is paired with professional dancer Lauren Oakley is Arnold Schwarzenegger's favourite to win.

Sharing a clip from an interview that Arnie gave for Channel 4 he said: "I want to wish good luck to Lauren and Krishnan in their event.

"I mean, I know they're going to outdo everybody."

Krishnan shared the video and hinted that he was well aware that the actor probably doesn't follow the show.

Krishnan shared the video and wrote in a tweet: "So that was fun! Obviously a big fan of the show," he wrote with a winking face.

One fan joked: "No pressure then!"

This comes as the star revealed the details about the cast's WhatApp group after Amanda Abbington quit the series.

The actress, 51, left the show earlier this week after she was missing from Saturday's live show due to medical reasons.

She wrote in an Instagram post: "‘It is with deepest regret that I had to leave Strictly.

"I did not come to this decision easily or lightly but for personal reasons I am unable to continue.

"It was an absolute joy working with my fellow contestants, they are a beautiful, hardworking and talented group of people who I love and who I will miss seeing every Friday and Saturday and competing alongside.

"I want to thank the incredible Production team and everyone on Strictly who looked after me and who are so kind and caring. It’s a wonderful bunch of people and I’ll miss all of them.’

Amanda added: "I’m so sad that I am unable to go any further. Thank you to everyone who voted and who sent wonderful messages and inspiring support. You are all amazing. Truly. Thank you. xxx"

Krishnan said that the contestants have been supporting each other on the group.

"We come together on a Friday, but we’re all in touch during the week because we’ve got a WhatsApp group,’ he told Bella magazine.

"As soon as someone is having a bad moment, they’ll go on the group and say, 'I’m having a terrible day' and everyone else will pile in with their own experiences and advice, or Angela Rippon will tell you about her cryotherapy chamber," he joked.

He said that the group is used to "share information, support, jokes and gags", adding that they all "genuinely care about each other".

Krishnan recently spoke about how his wife Lisa "isn't worried" about the Strictly curse.

She even encouraged the Channel 4 host to sign up to the show.

Rubbishing the rumoured jinx – which has seen previous contestants hook up with their dance partners – he says with a laugh: “She’s really relaxed and not at all worried. It’s all nonsense, especially for people at my end of the age spectrum.

“I’m not really across the gossip of Strictly years gone past, but I honestly don’t think the curse is something anyone needs to worry about when it comes to me," he said.

“I’m very happily married and old enough to be the father of most of the dancers.”
