Vietnam's aviation to fully recover this year

HANOI, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's aviation industry is forecast to fully recover by the end of this year, with an estimated 80 million passengers and 1.44 million tons of cargo to be transported by air, local media reported on Wednesday.

The number of passengers and cargo transported by air this year in Vietnam will increase 45.4 percent and 15 percent from 2022, or rise 1 percent and 14.8 percent, respectively, over the pre-pandemic period in 2019, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Along with opportunities, Vietnam's aviation industry will encounter challenges including limited airport infrastructure, volatile fuel prices, lack of human resources and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the news agency said.

In January, airports across Vietnam served more than 9.8 million passengers and handled 112,000 tons of cargo, up 13.8 percent and 11.6 percent, respectively, from the previous month, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam.
