A headteacher said she was ‘happy and proud’ after the latest Ofsted inspection gave her school a Good rating.
St Andrew's CE Primary School in Oswaldtwistle was rated by school inspectors Ofsted following their visit to the school in July.
The results of the inspection, which were released at the end September, concluded that St Andrew’s ‘continues to be a good school’ and that the ‘pupils are very proud of their school’.
Headteacher Christina Wilkinson said she was ‘very pleased with the inspection report’.
She said: “When I read the first line saying that our pupils are proud of our school, I was happy, as we are all proud and we enjoy working here, and that is reflected in the report.
“We always put the children first in all our decision making - we want our children to try their best in all areas.
The inspectors found that the pupils 'learn well and remember important knowledge and facts across different subjects', including pupils with special educational needs.
They also found that staff enjoy working at the school and feel supported by their leaders.
However, inspectors did find some improvements that the school could make including in assessments, the teaching of phonics and in how learning should be ordered.
Mrs Wilkinson said: “I have a committed and hard working staff that have taken on different roles during the last 18 months, like all schools.
“We have provided childcare and cover at lunchtimes and supported our children and families financially and emotionally. I have been at the school since 2001, and to hear that the staff love working here and feel supported was amazing.
“We want to make learning fun and exciting. We have a reading bus, racing pigeons, active wall and an outdoor gym.
“The children clearly think that St Andrew's is a special place to be, where they feel supported and cared for.”
