A motorcyclist was rushed to hospital following a horror crash on a Scots motorway.

Emergency services raced to the scene on the M77 on Saturday afternoon following reports of a one-vehicle crash.

Glasgow Live reported that traffic was brought to standstill as a section of the road was shut down by police.

The incident happened on the northbound section of the M77 in East Ayrshire between Fenwick and Kingswell shortly after 3.30pm.

Both the northbound and southbound stretches of the motorway were locked down by police.

However, they confirmed that the road has now fully re-opened.

The condition of the male motorcyclist is unknown at this stage.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police received report of a one-vehicle crash involving a motorbike on the M77 northbound at junction 6 around 3.35pm on Saturday, 31 July, 2021.

"Emergency services attended and the male motorcyclist has been taken to hospital by ambulance.

"The road has re-opened.”
