LEWIS HAMILTON is down to last place after starting ALONE following a red flag.
Mercedes made the mistake of keeping the Brit on intermediate tires while the rest of the grid all started from the pit lane as they switched to slicks.
And within seconds they realised their mistake as they sent him to the pits.
The red flag came about after Valtteri Bottas caused carnage by crashing into Lando Norris, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

WHAT NOW FOR BOTTAS?
Just a quick thought, which will no doubt be covered more later...
Mercedes had previously claimed they will announce Lewis Hamilton's partner for 2022 in the summer break - which comes after this race.
Untimely, for Valtteri Bottas.
Meanwhile, Lando Norris is calling for a stewards' penalty for the Finn affecting the next race.
Sergio Perez reveals to Sky that his engine was written off in that crash, which will mean a grid penalty later in the year as drivers have a set allocation for the season.
He says; "Basically, Bottas lost the car. It's clear. It's a big mistake.
"It's a massive blow for us as a team, we also lost the engine, it's not ideal.
"I don't know what to say."
LECLERC NOT HAPPY
The restart will, mercifully, not be quite as damp with sunny spells predicted but - of course - the track wet when we get underway.
Here's another shot of the chaos...
THE STATE OF THE TWO MERCS
Exhibit A: Lewis Hamilton, pristine.
Exhibit B: Valtteri Bottas, not pristine.
The McLaren driver cannot continue the race due to the damage.
We will be back racing at 2.32pm.
