Aston Villa fans have made their feelings known about Manchester City 's staggering bid for their captain Jack Grealish.

City bid a British record £100m for Grealish on Friday, after months of speculation about a move for the 25-year-old playmaker.

Villa have been desperate to keep hold of their talismanic skipper and opened up talks over an extension in June.

But there is now a sense of resignation that they could be about to lose the England international with City showing their intent with a mega offer.

Grealish has been identified to bolster City's attacking unit as boss Pep Guardiola aims to evolve his side again for the new season.

But while a transfer looks increasingly likely, Villa have not given up hope that Grealish will reject City and stay at his boyhood club.

The Villa Park faithful had the chance to make their feelings clear with a cheeky new chant during a friendly on Saturday.

1,500 Villa fans made their way to Ashton Gate for a pre-season fixture against Bristol City, which Grealish wasn't involved in.

Dean Smith's side were 3-0 winners but the game was dominated by the soundtrack of Villa fans sending a message to City about Grealish.

"You can shove your £100million up you’re a****," Villa fans were heard singing in the concourse, showing they are not interested in a British record transfer fee for their hero.

The chant was followed by the familiar 'Super Jacky Grealish' song as extensive support continued.

Villa fans were left satisfied walking out of Ashton Gate as pre-season preparation was stepped up with goals from teenager Jaden Philogene-Bidac, Ezri Konsa and Ollie Watkins.

Grealish's proposed transfer to the Etihad is looking nailed on but the move has been questioned by former Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

Jenas believes Grealish's decision could hinge on Guardiola's plans for his England international team-mate Phil Foden.

"From Jack's point of view, it all depends on what Guardiola's plans are for Phil Foden, because Phil spent the whole of last year on that left-hand side for Manchester City, and was brilliant, and that's where Jack plays," he told the Daily Star.

"There have been plenty of times where left-sided players at City have gone missing. Leroy Sane had to get himself out of there, Sterling last year even as brilliant as he was, didn't get a game last year.

He continued: "I find it hard to say he shouldn't go, for Jack, I just don't know if Man City is the place for him. It's a weird one, I feel like if he goes there and all of a sudden you've got Grealish, you put Foden a bit more central, you might get Kane or Lewandowski or Haaland, you're going to have a phenomenal team."
